Reverberacions IT Teatre Lliure is an artistic mediation programme which supports the IT Teatre Lliure production’s tour around the different towns in the Barcelona area. Its mission is to weave a network and connect the IT Teatre Lliure project for Institut del Teatre graduates to the towns’ social, cultural and educational ecosystems with the prime goal of promoting a diverse citizenry’s full participation in cultural rights and creating the possibility of one-off cultural democracy projects committed to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility.
Its main goal is to increase the number of arts and culture practitioners by providing access to the contents issued by the Teatre Lliure, always with an open, permeable attitude towards the diverse range of artistic and cultural expressions that comprise the ever-mutating, mestizo complexity of our contemporary societies.
With this purpose in mind, Reverberacions IT Teatre Lliure is suggesting that contextual artistic laboratories targeted at residents be activated under the leadership of professional artists from the town (local community artistic leaders). The projects seek diverse citizens’ maximum engagement in the artistic and cultural arena and are designed in close dialogue with the city’s artistic and cultural community. Their methodological reference and guide is the collaborative and community performing arts projects and processes on the international scene.
The local artistic and community leader pledges to be an activator, promoter, co-creator, coordinator and co-responsible of the contextual intervention to ensure that the objectives are met and that all processes follow a best-practices protocol that the Teatre Lliure provides at the start of the programme.
At the end of the project, the IT Teatre Lliure production is displayed in the different towns, and a video summary of the local artistic and community intervention is shown the same day. After that, a post-show debate is held with the participation of the local artistic group and the show’s artistic team.
In this way, the contents, poetics, methodologies, imaginaries and human and economic resources that the IT Teatre Lliure uses and mobilises reverberate in the different settings, while being sensitive to and incorporating each one’s specificities.
The programme was designed by Marta Galán Sala, who also provides support and mentorship to the community artistic processes.
A project spearheaded by the Teatre Lliure, the Institut del Teatre and the Culture Department of the Barcelona Provincial Council.
